From Revista Biociencias, we embrace this special issue as an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between science and society and to acknowledge the diversity of approaches through which care can be studied and transformed. These pages bring together scientific research, community-based experiences, educational innovation, public health, bioethics, artificial intelligence, open science, and digital transformation. This diversity does not represent fragmentation; on the contrary, it reflects the complexity of the challenges we face.

The future of health cannot be built solely in laboratories, hospitals, or through algorithms. It must also be shaped within communities, territories, classrooms, institutions, knowledge networks, and the spaces where we learn to listen to one another.

For this reason, FIKA LIV 2026 invites us to do something especially necessary in a society accustomed to constant acceleration: to pause and think before transforming.

A pause to ask ourselves what we mean by progress. A pause to recognize those who have historically been excluded from decision-making. A pause to understand that data represent people and realities. A pause to imagine technologies that expand human capabilities without diminishing our humanity. A pause to listen to territories and learn from communities. And, above all, a pause to remember that the ultimate purpose of science, education, and innovation in health remains unchanged: to care for life.

This is the spirit that brings FIKA LIV 2026 together with this special issue of Revista Biociencias: a science capable of innovating, but also of questioning itself; a technology capable of transforming, yet guided by ethics; an academic community open to the future, while remaining deeply committed to the realities of its territories.

Because, in the face  how we choose to care for what we transform.of the extraordinary possibilities of our time, the decisive question will not be how much we are able to transform, but rather
