As students in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program, we understand that this discipline is key to the well-being of workers and good functionality within the company. During a technical visit to a lubricants and automotive maintenance company in La Dorada, Caldas, conducted by the UNAD's CIS research group, we analyzed a real work environment and promoted awareness of best practices from a respectful and preventative perspective.

During the activity, we took photographs that we later analyzed using artificial intelligence tools, which allows us to identify more risks present and understand how they could lead to workplace accidents.

We identified risks such as a lack of signage on stairs, exposure to uncontrolled noise, absence of spill kits, inadequate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and fire hazards due to improper storage of flammable substances. We implemented an educational intervention based on a cause-and-effect tree analysis, promoting the use of PPE, active breaks, and safe work techniques.

This experience strengthened the culture of prevention and reaffirmed that OSH involves awareness, commitment, and continuous improvement.
