Objective. To determine the prevalence and distribution of gastrointestinal parasites (GIP) in Bogotá's canine population and analyze factors associated with their transmission. Method. Documentary study based on a bibliographic review of indexed scientific articles, specialized books, and journals on animal health and parasitology published from 1990 to the present. Results. Ancylostoma spp. showed the highest prevalence (52.9%), followed by Toxocara canis, more frequent in southern districts such as Usme (29.27%) and Suba (5.38%), related to socioeconomic conditions. Cystoisospora spp. was found in overcrowded settings, with C. canis (6.8%) in breeding facilities and C. ohioensis (17.9%) in veterinary clinics. Dipylidium caninum was associated with flea presence, and Giardia spp. showed a prevalence of 2.5%, especially in Teusaquillo. Conclusions. The prevalence and distribution of GIP in Bogotá are influenced by environmental and social factors; therefore, an integrated One Health approach is recommended, focused on community education, systematic deworming, and dog population control.
