Social appropriation of knowledge (SK) is a key component of community-based participatory research. It allows the co-creation of knowledge between researchers and communities, integrating the inhabitants in the identification and solution of problems, especially in areas such as health, education and environment. In the case of the village of San Rafael, in Sibaté, the pollution of the Muña River has seriously affected the health of the inhabitants. This study seeks to generate collaborative solutions, involving the community in activities that address these problems through various CSA strategies.
